Retinal Consultants of Arizona Opens Largest, Most Advanced Clinical, Surgical and Retinal Research Institute in the Nation
Retinal Consultants of Arizona (RCA) – one of the nation’s leading Retina & Vitreous clinical research and patient treatment facilities – announces the opening of a 35,000 sq. foot clinical, surgical and research facility to continue addressing the growing number of Arizonans dealing with retina related disease such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease – both are leading causes of blindness nationally.
The new 35,000 sq. foot building, on 29th Avenue and Greenway, combined with more than 35 clinical offices throughout the state, makes Retinal Consultants of Arizona the nation’s largest clinical, surgical and academic private practice and research institute treating conditions of the retina, macula and vitreous. It is one of the 5 largest retina practices in the country.
“Together with the internationally recognized Retinal Research Institute, two University affiliations, and a state-of-the-art surgical center, Retinal Consultants of Arizona offers its patients a “Center of Excellence” like no other,” said Dr. Pravin U. Dugel, managing partner, Retinal Consultants of Arizona. “At its core, our physicians and staff offer Arizonans the most advanced clinical and surgical treatments, clinical research and patient education for retina-related conditions such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Eye Disease.”
Innovation and technology has been at the forefront of Retinal Consultants of Arizona’s clinical and surgical practice for more than a decade. Implementing the latest technologies in retina care daily, RCA utilizes advanced diagnostic and treatment programs such as the CentraSight Implantable Telescope (End-Stage Age-Related Macular Degeneration) and the True Vision 3D Surgical System – all designed to deliver the safest and highest quality patient care experience.
“RCA has been serving the people of Arizona since 1980 and has earned national and international recognition as a leader in patient treatment and advanced clinical research specific to the retina, vitreous and macula,” continued Dr. Dugel. “As a retina practice and research institute, we constantly strive to offer the highest level of care and expertise to the communities we serve. It is important to us that all Arizonans have easy access to the best retina care clinically, surgically, academically and through clinical trials.”
Retinal Research Institute
A large part of the new building will be dedicated to the Retinal Research Institute, which is currently the largest, most active research institute in the country focused exclusively on diseases of the retina, macula and vitreous. The research institute, and the RCA physicians, are sought after for their expertise and dedication to researching and studying new treatments toward retinal diseases and have contributed to the advancement of new drugs, treatments and surgical processes available to patients.
The new North Phoenix location adds to RCA’s growing network of more than 35 locations throughout Arizona, including many Native American territories, serving patients with retina diseases.
