New Study Seeks Newly Diagnosed Patients With WET AMD

The Retinal Research Institute is currently enrolling in non-treated Wet Macular degeneration clinical research, if you have patients that are newly diagnosed with Wet AMD who might be interested in participating in these studies please contact our research department at 602-682-2770.

Research Staff Spotlight of the Month – Peter Khoury

Peter Khoury
Lead Clinical Research Coordinator
Serving Arizona Since 2007Education
Peter graduated from the University of Arizona in 2009 with a degree in Human Anatomy and Physiology and a minor in Chemistry.  Peter joined Retinal Consultants of Arizona in June 2013 and has seven years in the field of scientific research.

Previous Experience
Peter started working in research in 2007 as a research assistant in a cellular physiology laboratory at the University of Arizona.  Prior to joining Retinal Consultants of Arizona, Peter worked for a non-profit organization in Tucson helping to advance medical education and research through whole body donation.  Since early in his career Peter has focused on clinical/medical research helping to advance treatments for a wide variety of diseases.

Family Life
Peter enjoys spending time with his wife and is looking forward to becoming a father in 2015.  Peter enjoys an active lifestyle out of the office and participates in outdoor activities such as golfing, snowboarding, and hiking.  Peter’s passion for patient care and advancing medical treatments has led him to the rewarding field of clinical research.

Dr. Derek Kunimoto and the RCA Physician staff attended the annual CAOS Meeting to offer Continuing Education credits to Arizona Optometrists. The evening was successfully attended by nearly 75 local optometrists. This event speaks directly to RCA physicians philosophy in creating a Continuity of Eye Care yielding the best possible patient care scenario to serve the people of Arizona.
Dr. Matthew Witmer joined Diabetes Dimensions in Lake Havasu this month to discuss diabetes and vision loss. RCA was proud to join this important support group to discuss and raise awareness toward the relationship between diabetes and vision loss. This is an important issue that we should all pay attention to!
